This building’s brick and block construction was completed in 1906. Originally constructed by the Village of Nunda, this building remained as the government offices after the merger of Nunda and Crystal Lake in 1914.
City offices, jail, and fire department were all headquartered at this facility. The village’s large water tower stood at the rear of the building. The basement and central heating system were installed in 1922. Prior to 1922, the building was heated with stoves. The Nunda Masonic Lodge rented the second floor space of this building until 1960.
Lack of space in this old facility forced the City of Crystal Lake to construct the current municipal complex on Woodstock Street. The Old Town Hall was sold to a private party in 1996, but the building’s original name and purpose can still be seen on the front façade.
