Who We Are

Downtown Crystal Lake / Main Street is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization founded by local community volunteers in 1996. Downtown Crystal Lake’s support comes from businesses, organizations and individuals from throughout the Crystal Lake community and we are accredited through Main Street America.

Our Mission

Our mission is to revitalize and promote a vibrant and inclusive community in Main Street Downtown Crystal Lake by fostering a welcoming and engaging environment as the heart of our city, for residents, businesses, and visitors.

We strive to preserve the unique character and charm of our historic downtown district while promoting economic growth, environmental sustainability, diversity, and a high quality of life for all who live, work, and play in our community.

Initiatives

Main Street is a comprehensive community revitalization program that promotes historic preservation and economic development of a community’s traditional business district. Downtown Crystal Lake is an accredited member of the Main Street America network. The four-point Main Street approach involves the following committments:
