Clothes Gallery is announcing its closing after 31 years in business, as owner Sherree Rothstein prepares for retirement. What began as a bold new chapter in 1995 has grown into a beloved boutique known for timeless style, personal service, and lasting relationships with generations of customers.

Originally founded in 1978, the store became a local favorite before Sherree and her husband, Michael, purchased the business and building in 1995. With no inventory and only a vision, Sherree rebuilt Clothes Gallery from the ground up, creating a space focused not just on fashion, but on connection.

“We started with an empty store and a big idea,” says Sherree. “I wanted to create something special—an experience where women felt welcomed, confident, and cared for.”

Over the years, Clothes Gallery weathered major challenges, including 9/11, the 2008 recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, the boutique remained a constant for its loyal customers, evolving with the times while staying true to its signature blend of classic elegance and personality.

More than anything, Clothes Gallery has been defined by its community. Families have shopped there for decades, with mothers, daughters, and grandmothers all sharing in the experience.

“Our customers truly became like family,” Sherree says. “It’s been an honor to be part of their lives.”

As she steps into retirement, Sherree reflects with gratitude on the relationships built and the memories made, bringing a meaningful chapter to a close.
