Disability Pride Event
July 26, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
LOCATION CHANGE: Due to the unpredictable forecast, the Disability Pride Event will be at the First Congregational Church at 461 Pierson Street, at the same time: 10 am – 1 pm. We’re looking forward to a GREAT (safe, dry, climate controlled) event where the weather can’t steal focus!
Save the date! Downtown Crystal Lake is proud to support the Disability Pride Committee at HLC Therapy Group, LLC in their first Disability Pride Event on Saturday, July 26!
Starting at 10am, you can look forward to a market with over 30 booths supporting small business owners in the disabled community, and a chance to connect with community and local resources. There will also be great entertainment, including the Kingpins Drumline!
If you’re unfamiliar with Disability Pride Month (July): consider this your introduction! The first Disability Pride Day was marked shortly after the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed on July 26 1990 (exactly 35 years before this event!), and it has since become a movement that celebrates the visibility and rights of those living with disabilities.
Chicago hosted its first Disability Pride Event in 2004. To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first Disability Pride event being held in the Chicago suburbs! (Someone correct us if we are wrong and we will make the correction!)
The event is FREE and open to the public from on Saturday, July 26th. We hope to see you there!
