ABOUT THE SHOW:
The Raue Center School for the Arts production of The Disturbing
Disappearance of St. Nicholas makes its world premiere December 1-3. What would
happen if Santa Claus abandoned the North Pole? When a group of elves discover
Santa’s famous red suit strewn across a chair, hilarious and heart touching chaos
ensues as each elf embarks on a journey of self-discovery that helps them better
understand the spirit of Christmas. This 60-minute devised piece of theatre will cause
immense joy and move audience members through some of your favorite holiday music
and the writing of this new work written by the students of the RCSA.

ABOUT DEVISED THEATRE: Devised Theatre is loosely defined as the process of
collaboratively creating a new work without a pre-existing script wherein the
collaborators are also the performers. In the standard theatre model, a single playwright
writes the text and then a director casts actors and selects designers to interpret that
text, resulting in a theatre production. With Devised Theatre, however, the collective
artists begin without a script. A devised piece of theatre can literally start with anything:
a painting, a song, a real-life event, a novel to adapt, non-fiction interviews, a
photograph, poetry, etc. Multiple ways to devise exist. This process requires great
creativity, the need to work collaboratively, and the ability to create/learn new material to
mount a world premiere production.
